I need help as i am in Australia and have a dead battery and need a new 1. So can some tell me a very reliable heavy duty battery
that i can purchase and install? Also my exsisting battery has front terminals, which i dont think are available here in Aus. So I need
the name/model number of a battery that i can replace the original with.
Hear from you soon
most any, actually. you may need top post to side post adapters or new terminal ends for existing cables. pretty big deep batt compartment. pull your battery and measure length-width-depth. then check what is available locally for fit. my 75 i am currently using a 25 buck riding mower battery in it. of course it is a driveway battery, not on road yet. small blocks don't usually need tons of cranking amps.
I replaced mine in 2017 with a D75/25 Optima Yellow Battery which has both top and side mounts for the terminals. I still use the side mounts. Cost then was $420 from Battery World in NSW .. see link, super cheap auto has them for $390 now
For what its worth, the Red Top also has both terminals. They run $260-$280 stateside.
According to Optimas web site the Yellow Top is ideal for applications that will completely drain the battery, then is fully charged later. Over & over again.
In other words, vehicles that may not have charging systems: boats, tractors, ATVs, trolling motors, golf carts, etc. So the battery is drained & charged remotely. Hence the name: Deep Cycle.
