Just got back from the NCRS convention in Greenville, SC. 1969 Corvette's were the featured cars as they are now 50 years old. On display was the first Corvette SR-2. Blue in color. Does anyone know if the second SR-2, painted red, still exists? I tried Googleing it but no results.

The one you saw at the NCRS convention was incorrectly painted red for many years.

Don't think so. The blue SR-2 was made in the spring of 1956 and was painted blue. Over the years the first SR-2 was raced and painted many different colors over time including purple,.until it was restored around 1990. During the winter of 1956-57 GM made a second SR-2 that was lighter in weight and they painted it Red. There is a picture of this red, second SR-2, on the web and it looks like it is fully restored and in a museum. That's all the info I can find on the second SR-2.
This is an original owner 69. Owner said he had never shown it previously at any NCRS event. So much of the car looked brand new it was hard to believe it was original (but I do believe him). Repaint was done in 1975 because the original paint was so crappy
Original sidepipe car but sidepipes are not the originals. Otherwise much of the car was original and amazing to look at. Owner had pictures of the car the day he brought it home. Very cool display! Lots of great cars. NCRS now has a "concourse" category so some of the cars on the display field were modified/ restomod type cars. Something you never used to see. Those cars used to only be seen out in the parking lot. I don't know when they added this category.
