I HAVE THIS REAR SECTION CAST NUMBER IS 9899143 OTHER NUMBERS 042 ( OLD EYES TOUGH FOR ME TO SEE CLEARLY STAMPED FROM WHAT I CAN SEE (OR THINK I SEE ) WW102 B2 ??? AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE HEAVY YOKE ENDS. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT I HAVE FROM THIS?
I have seen so many differentials that are not what the cover suggests that I always start with a confirmation "SPIN". Not sure what you are going to do with the assembly now that it is off the car but if you intend to take it apart you can spin the differential much easier and count the revolutions. You will want to open it up anyway and drain it to see the condition of the internals, and if you are selling it the buyers will want to know how much play it has in the yokes, etc. What did it come out of? Taking that assembly apart is fun, something I love to do, takes about 2-3 hours and all will be known once you do that.
Have fun taking it apart and let us know what you find.
Best regards,
David Howard

Thanks you are right ... I know about spinning. I see now that it can't be ww it is so faint and hard to see i was hoping pictures blow up might show better . I bought this years ago when i had a flared / whale tail / no motor car i was going to make into a bb fun auto cross car. After i got hurt / disabled i sold car and now am just trying to sell all my cars and parts before i pass so my wife doesn't have to deal with the mountains of stuff. I figured if i could detemine the date and such on the rear diff. I might be able to sell better. But now i'm guessing since it's all chromed ... Only someone who is putting together a fun car and needs/ wants such an item will be willing to purchase. Everything is really tight and they must have used new / newer trailing arms as they are super smooth under the chrome. I guess i'll have to get it cleaned better and get some younger eyes on the unit. Thanks for looking.
Woodie
Woodie, I just noticed your location. I live down in Easton, PA but I will be traveling up to Watertown, NY to visit a good friend and do some fishing up on Lake Ontario in the next couple of weeks. I usually stop at Whitney Point for rest break, gas, Subway or McDonalds at the intersection with I-81. If you have some parts you want to sell I would be interested in seeing or hearing what you have. You can reach me direct by e-mail at AllVettes4Me@gmail.com or you can PM me here on the forum, your call. I will lock down the date soon, will be during the week because I am retired. Can stop on the way up, or on the way down, or both depending upon what you have and what you are selling. Glad to look and help if I can. I will drive my Silverado 2500HD and will have plenty of room for stuff.
Let me know if this is of any interest.
Thank you and best regards,
David Howard
