Has anyone run into this? I just purchased the car (70 convertible) and figured the guy had them on backwards. Took them off and the LH and RH were correct.
The posts would at the at the top edge if I flipped them.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Just above the ”4” you can see how it sticks up Right side Left side looking down hood.

Maybe an after market insert that doesn't fit correctly, or the hood has been replaced and the holes weren't drilled in the correct spot, causing the insert to not sink into the opening.
Hopefully someone else with more experience will reply.
My repro inserts didn't fit correctly either, had to elongate the holes in the hood a little to let it sit down properly (stock hood and inserts worked fine)

just got my inserts in the mail last week, put one on as a test to see how it looks, bad fit, scratched new paint going on also it doesnt stick up high like yours though

Did you have predrilled holes? I’m really not liking the idea of elongating the holes.
the one i tried fit into the holes snug, i may go up the next size on the holes just for some wiggle room, the curve in the emblem doesnt match the curve in the hood, there is a 1/8 gap in the corner. sucks for the price i think it should fit better.
Had this problem on a repainted 68 Corvette, the paint build up in those areas prevented the hood inserts from seating fully.
SO. I used my trusty pocket knife to very carefully scrape some of the excess base/clear off in the hood pocket, NOT the visible areas, only in the inside bends, to allow the proper seating. I then used some touch up paint in the hood pocket to seal the fiberglass, let it dry, and then installed the hood insert.
