I also see a ground wire with a ring terminal...maybe tach ground....but not sure where to attach it. won't reach to speedo ground....
IIRC- the parking brake switch wire is tan. Light green is used on the headlights-but
Just a thought-
There are wires that have been added- can easily see one - but there might be others - I would follow the wires back and see if they have been buggered with....
And just because it's black - doesn't mean its a ground- might have been the only color wire they had laying around- just sayin....
hi Richard.
the green one I spliced in to fix one that was smoked somehow in the past...unfortunately I didn't have the correct green.
it is about a 2 ft splice that terminates back to the correct color fortunately....
I checked the ring lug black wire and it ties in to the other grounds...just not sure where is hooks up.
oh boy, the wiring fun I have on these cars.....

I checked the backup light suggestion. i have the wiring an plug from the shifter....it looks wired correctly with light green and purple.
(by the way...this cars crossmember is welded not bolted, which I believes shows was originally a 4 speed car. don't know if that would make a difference.)
also, where do the wires/connectors off the shifter go to?
ok, so Bubba had a fun time with this old car.
this 68 convertible has a 75 tach .....so took out the drivers side dash pad and speedo/tach to replace
it with a correct tach drive version tachometer.
oh well, I've extended the wiring harnesses for both the tach and speedo to greatly
help installation and removing the lower dash pad in the future.

Purple on the shifter is the neutral safety switch, green/pink backup light switch....what is the other connector for? My shifter didn't have the third connector
