Default Steering Box

Wondering if anyone recently replaced their C3 steering box?
I am currently looking at purchasing a new Saginaw unit for my 72 Vette and avoiding the rebuild issues. I was hoping someone can share any tips!
Thanks in advance.

I got a rebuilt one from Ecklers. It installed without any problems. Works much better than the 50 year old one that was on my 68 convert. bolt holes lined up and the steering column also fit properly.

I sent mine to Bair's. First class job easy to work with. They rebuilt mine, no exchange.

I sent mine to @GTR1999 . He did a great job, documented the whole things, and send me enough photos for me to practically do it myself (minus some specialty tools, and better than stock components). Mine went into my 80 that I converted to manual steering.

I picked up a used box this Forum, and he rebuilt that one, so I had no downtime on the car. I added a Flaming River U-joint, and asked that he use a powdercoated cap, and sign the box when complete. Yours doesn't have to look like this, but I am VERY happy with how it handles.

I also highly recommend Gary. He rebuilt the steering box on my 73. He rebuilds and blue prints them so they are better than original.
You will find him on the forum.

Gary rebuilt the original box on my 73 also. Fantastic work and Gary keeps you appraised during the process.

Another vote for Gary. His rebuilt boxes are better than anything you can buy new. He doesn't mix and match shims. He parallel grinds shims to the exact size needed so there is absolutely no slop in the box. And his documentation is second to none. He has done my steering box, 12 bolt diff and trailing arms.
