you can use ratios to determine position of gussets.....bottom of gusset overlaps frame hole/top of gusset is at kickup frame hole....I'm guessing the gusset is 2" x 2" heavy-wall mild steel square tubing

You might want to consider 'going the extra mile'.
The Frame is out and accessible.
Notice how Chevy 'stitch-welded' the frame? You might want to consider continuous welding it. With out pouring untold extra heat into it...(Patience).
this WILL make it stronger.
Had to repair the upkick rails on my 69. It is a good idea to go over the entire frame while it is open. Maybe a little overkill but I wanted these rails to be as strong as I could make them. Also used a few or the after market frame replacement parts which fit like crap but can be modified. Also added new cages and nuts while at it.

I think the gusset is to wide will hit floor not sure. but welding the frame is good idea
