I plan on pulling the interior soon so I can dynamat and had some insulation, anything else I should plan to do while there. Either preventive maintenance or upgrades?? Not sure what I’ll find!
Not sure of your model year. You will not regret adding the dynamat. Pay extra attention to the passenger footwell area for cleaning even if it looks like new. Its probably had a heater core leak/replacement and anti-freeze never dries, leaving a film that won't allow the dynamat to stick. I also removed the smelly carpet insulation and used two layers of the reflectix (the aluminized 'bubblewrap' noise goes away after the new carpet is installed.
I replaced the seat foam/covers, and found it a great time to replace the center console in order to lube the shifter mechanism and replace the broken a/c selector mechanism. Its also a prime time to replace the foam sealing pads at the floor side-vents because the panels will be out. Its also the prime time to replace any under-carpet wiring that is chaffed. You can also run a new power and ground wire to the battery if you have an upgraded stereo, along with a new radio antenna. I replaced the factory rear speakers in mine while they were out ('82).. Finally, having the seats out is the only time to replace the fuses with the replacements that glow (LED) if blown.
You were wise to ponder ahead like this for while the patient is already on the operating table...
