Everything I've got say #10-24, maybe the threads just need to be chased?

10-24 seems kinda coarse for automotive applications, Just for fun try a 10-32.

nope, 10-24 then 10-32, not even a close metric size for a #10

10-24 are bumper cover mount screws. GM wasn't real big on fine threads except flywheels, balancers and stuff. phone cameras are pretty good. try to get a pic of female thread. you sure it is a machine and not sheet metal thread?

The original driver's side mirror mount screw was a special 10-24 screw, with a #8 head, but any 10-24 machine screw with a countersunk head should work. The same screws were used for the rocker panels.

10-32's were used with the Well Nuts, used to install the passenger side mirrors.

Ok guys this is how it turned out I ran a 10 24 tap in front hole but it was to big for the second. They had a sheet metal screw holding it on with probably some kind of glue. I was able to run a 8 32 tap in and same size machine screw. I didn’t’ Want to get the drill around the fresh paint if possible. Thanks to all who replied.
