I don't necessarily think my car is worth more than it is, I just look at and average national asking prices for similar cars in similar condition, drop my price 20% from that, then hope for a buyer.
Asking prices do not mean anything, selling prices do....
Very true...Yet the few times I do ask sellers what there car sold for they never respond.....I don't know why they do that..I think it would help buyers and sellers get a better understanding of the market....
Well, it seems to me that lots of folks think their car is worth more than it really is. If someone wants to get rid of their 68-72, 73, or 74-82 Corvette they probably ought to do it now before the price collapses and you end up with a Model-T that nobody covets.
Yes due to the BJ money laundering auctions, the car market is like the real estate market. A pump and dump. The economy is in the tank, people have no money, and are now starting to whip the **** out of thier eyes to see what old cars are really worth. Our generation is the last that wants this older stuff, once we die off so will the car hobby.

I've been a car enthusiast, basically, all of my life, and I'm creeping up on 70 years of age. Over that time, I've acquired a LOT of tools and shop equipment. When I die, I can see all of my "stuff" either being part of a big "garage sale" or sadly, winding up in a landfill, as few people do any kind of hand work, anymore.
Exactly ask what you want, that doesn't mean anyone is coming with cash anytime soon to buy it. Some guy on craigslist wants $85,000 for a 68 charger, HAHAHAHAHA. its an original mile 383 car, Man for $85K I can buy a nice newer C6 C7 vette etc or a nice passenger sedan. Money is better spent on something other than old cars nowadays.

Agree its only common sense. I see guys going out of their way to order a brand new one to make it a 1 of 1 really believing its in instant collectible. HAHA
Was at a cruis night few weeks back theres a teenager thats looking for a cheap C3....once i pulled up he could not figure out what i was driving (camino) had never even heard of one.
Part of the problem getting what its worth is theres a lot of guys who have no idea what a real frame off entails and merely price shop and judge by lipstick. When you have substantial engine mods done, suspension its speaking chinese. They dont care they just want it cheap.
I gave up selling and am driving every chance I get, who cares about a rock chip. When Im gone it will be fire saled in 1 week. Had a guy send a nasty email once..how could it be finished with no wipers, ac power everything and poor mpg? Huh?!
Cant take em with you.
Kids today are into what they grew up wiht...imports, that new SS camaro hellcat or beat up early C5. Who has $ these days with the cost of living?

Good point!
I retired 11 years ago, A) because after 37 years, I was kind of tired of it; B) there was a possibility that my job was going to be eliminated, either causing to be flat-out laid off, or re-assigned to some "BS" job;, C) so I left on my own terms. BUT, it did mean my "play budget" couldn't be "unlimited".....
I think the hobby is tainted by too many "enthusiasts" that think that what they are doing means something. It doesn't. To appreciate Vintage Muscle is one thing but to create a bogus counterculture around it and mis-represent the **** out of it for some kind of status or class war ruins it for the people who truly enjoy them.
That said......young people identify with a 68-70 Charger, 67-70 Fastback Mustang, or any early Camaro better than they do a Vette.......when they look at them they do not see the chrome bumpers or any of the cool features of the early ones, or the differences in the late ones for that matter....they just see colors and curves, none of the **** that means anything to us means anything to them.
Moving even further on......I met Aaron at the Vintage Air car show in Bracken 5 years ago and he is a true dude.....I tried to meet Richard but I can tell you he lives up to his name, Dick.
I wish he would just stop. Today.
