Default convertible top and rain

I almost made it home from the Manassas, VA cruise in with my 68 convert before the rain started. Top down, of course. Last time I got caught in the rain I got soaked, since it takes about 5 minutes to get the top up. Fortunately I made it to the covered pumps at the Exxon station and got the top up. I still got wet, since the weather stripping along the driver's window is not a tight fit, so some of the rain blew in on me. It must be nice to have a modern convertible with a power operated top.

I'd rather have a leaky '68.

Five minutes to get the top up? I can get the top up on my '73 faster than any automatic top I've ever seen operate. In my younger days I could do it at a stoplight. Might take me a minute and a half max now, if I ever put it up again. Is the top "fighting" you somehow, figuratively speaking?

With practice I had the time under 30 seconds on my '69 Camaro, but it didn't have the deck lid. It tok me a few weeks to adjust the bow and window w/strip so there were no leaks....which I did for my new Wife back in the day.

Leaks didnt bother me since my main ride was a Harley.

How tight are your front latches. My top was installed by Bozo and its on crooked its stalled too short and doesnt have that windlace across the front, but I adjusted it so the front latches snap shut. The rain doesnt pout through but I do get a few drips. Maybe you can tighten it up a little to make it better. Im thinking of trying to install a top this winter myself.

I drove my 75 roadster in the rain yestetday too,,,, the original weather strips are not the best,,, i get dripping on me from window seals,, so, if i open the windows 3/4" the wind tskes the drips away, and I'm not soaked, ,,,, , i also carry a towel or two to insure im comfortable, ,,, iit is still great fun! Dont let a lil water stop you,,

Top is down most of the time, and hard top only on it to transport it to storage, ,,,,, ( I cant do a "T" top )

My 66 GTO had a power top along with my brothers 60 Impala. Power tops have been around for a long time. T

I had an S2000 before my Corvette, the power top would go up in 10 seconds!

I don't know what an S2000 is, but I could beat the Cadillacs and one Porsche I've seen operate.

I remember it snowing inside my Bugeye Sprite when I used to commute to college back in 70's and that was with a new top and the side curtains on before it started...that's the added value of driving a classic convertible...
