if you don't know what he is talking about then you probably shouldn't comment on how well it works. :-)

Ok, when you say back yard I think of grass so a "lift " on grass is not what comes to mind. Maybe it should be called driveway buddy

...have had my BackYard Buddy probably since about 2000. It is a super quality lift made in Niles, Ohio. I picked mine up myself at the factory, had them load it on my car trailer with their factory crane and built it myself once home. Wouldn't trade it for anything!!! My ceiling is 9' 8" and the lift is at the 2nd notch from the top notch(with '68 Corvette on it).

I've had one of the BB lifts for about 25 years. Other than getting the cylinder rebuilt after about 20 years it's been very dependable. I've moved a few times over the years, and I've disassembled and assembled it several times. With that practice, I can do either operation single handedly in an hour or hour and a half. Pretty simple.

A friend of mine has two them and are nice lifts. At Carlisle a couple of weeks ago we were talking to the vendor of these and they are not called "Backyard Buddy" anymore and are no longer red but now grey. But it is the same lift but can not remember the new name.

Was out in the garage working on the car this evening, and was entertaining the idea of getting another BYB lift to put in the other stall. Got on their (new) website and holy crap, they've run their prices up a bunch since I bought mine. Took a quick look around some sites for other brands, and their prices are noticeably lower than BYB's. What do the other lifts "not have" that they're selling for substantially less money than BYB?

I apologize to the OP. I'm not trying to hijack his thread. Until a few moments ago I had never entertained looking at anything other than another BYB lift.

I have 3 four post lifts. The Bendpak is the best of the three. I don’t have a
Backyard Buddy.

...I believe I paid $3600 for mine new around 2000. Not sure what they even go for now?

I bought 2 Atlas 4-post lifts last year for my garage. I paid somewhere around $2300 each, picked them up at the Greg Smith Equipment warehouse in Delaware, assembled myself with the help of a friend. Pretty easy.

I see now that the price is over $3000. I guess the trade war tariffs with China are the reason for the big price increase. Still a great deal.

Not sure of differences between Atlas and BYB lifts.
