Default 1973 convertible

I think I am all warned

out from the modern corvette. I purchase a 1973 convertible last Saturday; the car use to have a SBC. It was replaced with a 396, not sure what year or what car it came from. What year and which model corvette came with a 396?

nice car..
the 65 corvette came with a 396 as a option.. late in the model year, so it was a rare one year option.
check your casting date and casting number of your block and your pad stamping... might tell you what it came out of...
the 396 and its sister engine, the 402, was produced from 1965 thru 1972 and put in several chevys.

Unfortunately the AW 2014 convertible I traded in for the 2017 Z06 3LZ/Z07. I change corvette every two years. However, I will not get a C8. Got a set of C3 instead, this 73 and 72 Elkhart Green automatic, which I need to restore.

Great looking 73, best of luck with it.

Looks like a later year front bumper with bumper guards is glassed in, pretty slick.

That hood looks great on your car. Enjoy it and please post more pics.

Welcome to the 73 club! Great looking car Love the hood and the modified nose. I wouldn’t sweat the nonstock 396. My lawnmower has more power than the stock L48 that it replaced.

Beautiful car, it looks fast just sitting there! Interested what the 396 came out of, they had some high horsepower ones. More pics please. Regards, Mark

the only thing you can be sure of is it is a big block until you get stamp pad numbers and block and head casting numbers. but no big block sucks except a 366 truck motor. and they are tall decks and don't really fit our engine compartments.

I did that and it just seemed to delay my restoration

Great looking car, but I hope you have an appointment for some new tires. Eagle GTIIs haven't been produced in over 20 years.

Thank you! I will post more pics of her once I finish my immediate project. I purchase my wife's her dream car for our anniversary (1957 ford thunderbird). I am doing a front disc brake conversion for better stopping and making sure the car is solid and dependable for her to drive. Then the 73 will get full attention for my enjoyment. As everyone I am curious about the engine.
With the little things I've done so far, this engine has some power and very responsive.

Good pic of your 73. Would really like some detail pics of the
whole front clip treatment. Pacecar chin and BB/LT-1 style hood look really aggressive 👍🏻
You should 86 those Goodyear’s asap unless you plan to use the car for static display only.
