ls5 Heads
Are the exhaust/intake ports on the 1971 ls5 (454cid/365hp) round or rectangle? I'm getting ready to replace some disintegrating cork gaskets on valve covers and pan along with the exhaust system gaskets. I note that both round and rectangle shaped gaskets are available for the heads??

take a look at the top of the intake runners. there is a bolt there. if it is above the runners,it is oval port or round port. if the bolt is sunk down between the tops of the runners,it is a rectangle port.

a few aftermarket oval intakes look like rectangle ports. like this weiand stealth. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Weiand-Stea...rd!19061!US!-1 but they use one mold to make oval and rectangle port intakes. they can also be run on either head.
