Default 1971 Headlight Sheilds

Hello

when I got my 1971 the previous owner had the car painted and they didn’t put the sheilds back

i went through the Assembly Manuel and I can’t find any illustrations showing them
Does anyone have something to show me how they go in and where they attach?

i have new ones from Paragon but no drawings

thank you

are you talking the black shield that goes behind the grill to keep the lights from getting hit by stones when they are down?

If so, pull off the headlight bezel and there should be 2 or 3 screws holding on the grill along the top. You just use those screws to hold them in. There is a left and right so you'll have to eye them to see which side they fit on. My po had them reversed. i just removed them last summer at a track event for more cooling, it helped so i havent put them back yet

Bolted (with clips) to the lip just above the grills. This pic from underneath with the headlights raised

Mooser,

one question, the metal piece that you show on the back, is that attached to the shield?

In the middle there where the oval cutout is? That's actually the underside of the chrome bumper on my car (1972) There is no metal on the shields themselves. One mine, there is a fiberglass lip that the 3 screws go through (from the bottom) and the shields with the 3 j-clips attached sits on top of that lip and the screws go into the clips holding it down onto the fiberglass lip

Here is a closeup of that area, maybe it helps

The red points at the edge of the bottom of the bumper
The blue is the fiberglass "lip" that the bumper fits around
The Yellow is one of the cutouts in the bottom of the bumper that lets you get at the screw holding the plastic shield in place

Shield sits on top of the lip in blue, screws go where the cutouts in the bumper are, marked in yellow here
