Default 1969? Rally wheels identification help

Hey all, I am looking for some 1969 rally wheel rims and I ran across these. They seem to have an extra letter in the code. Does anyone know what the "5" after the "K 1 9" signifies? Could it be for 1979 vs 1969? I have not seen a extra letter before and couldn't find any explanation on the web or my books. Rather sloppy markings, HMM? Thoughts? Thanks greatly appreciated Ike

I think that may be a 1995 service replacement wheel? If I remember correctly, Kelsey went to a two digit year code around 1980. In which case the wheel would break down as follows.

K - Kelsey
1 - Romulus MI factory
95 - 1995
9 - September
19 - 19th day of the month
AZ - 15x8 rally wheel

OK thanks!!! I didn't know they made OTC replacements. I was trying to figure it out thinking 1969-1982 production. Greatly appreciated!!. The owner is advertising them as 1969 on Graigs List. The search continues!!!! Ike

K 1 9 from 69 will be stamped "upside down" vs the wheels pictured.

You'll read them with the valve stem hole at the bottom.

Barry great info thank you!! Can you clarify what years would that be correct for? Is that a way to separate 1969 vs 1979 rims? In other words when did Kelsey flip the markings? My 72 rims made in 1971 are similar to the above layout. Thanks Ike

What month 69 Wheels are you looking for? My brother has a set of 4 matched 1969 AZ's which he would sell or trade for some more Sept 1972 dated wheels for his EARLY 73 L82.

Hello Firstgenaddict, my 1969 has a build date of Oct 17th 1969. I should have been clearer the 1972 rims are on my 1972 coupe and are correct and thus not for a trade. The 1969 came with a set of matching, I assume 1975 rims. Funny that the month and day combo is correct but if I am not mistaken they are from 1975. PM me if your brother's rims are close in the month. A pic of the 1975? Thanks Ike

From what I've seen over years of looking at wheels on eBay is K18 AG, K18 AZ, K19 AZ and K10 AZ for model years 68-70 are "upside down" stamped right side up on the bottom.

I believe 71-79 are stamped so you read them at the top, and then 80-82 I believe are stamped k180 , 81, 82 but I haven't seen one in a while so I'm not 100% on that, but I know if you see them from later 80's and 90's it has a 2 digit year.
