I have a 1972 vette, and im going to mount the wiper door, it was gone when I bought the car. But I have a problem. The dash wiring is from a 73, so I dont have the correct dash wiring....
The question is, the main cable (red with white tracer) goes from the engine harness in to the connector, and on the 1972 it goes to the override switch, but now when I have the 73 dash wiring, the red with white tracer doesnt exist. Does someone have a diagram for a 73 where I can see what the red with white tracer cable from the engine wiring is connected to in the 73 dash wiring?
I don't believe 73 used that wire.
There is a difference between the 72 and 73 wiper motors/wiring and the cars--specifically due to the wiper door. So, do you have a 72 or 73 wiper motor? In other words, does your wiper motor have a single red wire with a connector?
For 72, the red/white wire you are pointing to should be +12V at all times while the yellow wire (just to the left of your yellow arrow on the engine side) should be +12V when the key is on. This red/white wire is what stops the wiper motor when the wiper door is closed and when you turn the override switch. For 73, I believe the red/white wire is removed and the yellow wire is +12V at all times (or maybe with key on). Therefore, you will need to modify the wiring harness slightly to allow the wiper motor to work with you wiper door (i.e. not run when the door is closed).
Yes, I know I have to modify the harness, I just wonder if I can find the red with white tracer from engine harness somewhere under the dash (another color maybe?), or is the terminal om the 73 dash harness empty?
Otherwise I can cut the red with tracer in the egine bay and lengthen it into the firewall to the override switch.

It's a constant source of power for the wiper motor.
Here's how originally it was run-
The power comes from the starter with a fusible link -to the horn relay terminal- then once through the firewall -it's split to the ignition switch (Red/White/Dk blue)- to the headlight switch (red) AND to the wiper over-ride service switch.
If you want to bypass-
And not use a service switch inside the passenger cabin- then you can get power off the horn relay.
I would highly recommend fusing the the new wire at the horn relay AND make sure you have the correct automotive wire (Cross linked ply insulator and not PVC) as it will be running in the engine compartment and will see a lot of heat. Summit Racing sells the correct wire - called "SXL type"- a little more expensive but it's probably a lot less than your deductible if it catches fire!!!
That wire runs from the constant power - to the firewall switch and then to the motor.
Thank you guys, I think I need a wiring diagram from a 73 where I can see the bulthead connector and see if any wire goes from that terminal. Othervise I have to take mine apart and have a look.

That how it goes on 70-71, the 72 goes straight to the override swith under the dash.
