What is this?
I’m switching out my radio and found the item pointed to with the red arrow. It’s hooked to the radio. Is it an amp?
the radio is the FM Radio.

It's the convector for the radio (amp sort of last stage, mono with one transistor, stereo ones had two)

I was told it is a heat sink (convector). Yes for the radio.

If you have a stock radio, it won't work without it (the heat sink that is, not the water bottle).

My guess is something to catch the oil from the oil pressure gauge that was removed.
Bingo. I didn’t want to chance the oil dripping inside the car.
So, I should be able to remove the amp if I’m replacing the radio?

I was just teasing, of course. I figured that's what you were using it for. When I removed the non-functioning original radio from my 69, it had a film of oil on the top surface. I was installing new carpet and was not about to risk having a leaky oil gauge ruin my new carpet. I swapped in a later year electric gauge.

I’m putting an electric gauge in mine for the same reason. Probably would never be an issue but...
