Default Driveline Balancing Question

I had my driveline rebalanced when I took it out of the car. After I got my differential back I realized there was two weights on the collar of the U-joint On the differential. Since I had the driveline balanced, should I remove those weights? I’ve attached a picture.

If I'm looking at it right, those 2 "weights" are on the diff at the pinion seal. That part doesn't move, does it?

Look closer, they are on the yoke collar not the differential case. I would contact the shop that balanced the driveshaft

OK, I see it now. I don't remember seeing that collar or any weights on my '69 diff when I had it out 10+ yrs ago. I didn't know they balanced diff's. Always good to learn things.

I am thinking that just balances the yoke. I really don't know for sure. Good question.

That's the dust shield section of the yoke the weights are attached to. You'll ruin the shield if you try to remove them.

I spoke to the guy who rebuilt my differential and balanced my driveline. He says they’re completely balanced separately so I don’t need to worry about things being out of balance. So now we all know! Thanks for your input guys!

i agree those weights on yoke are for the yoke balance, you should mark the yoke and pinion end so they are slid on the same splines whenever you remove the yoke. the driveshaft is kinda short but i had mine balanced anyway for 50$ while it was out.
