More specifically - Wranglers. I know - off topic but thought I'd share anyways.
This spring my wife bought a 2016 Wrangler so now she has a fun car too. She always wanted one and found this one which met my approval (it had big knobby tires) and we got it. So now she is finding all these Jeep events. We were in a Jeepalooza parade, and the aerial Jeep logo picture. We are going to another Jeep thing in Put-In-Bay next summer. She is having a good time planning stuff. We joke that we now go to more Jeep things than Corvette stuff. They also wave at each other, which can get sort of annoying sometimes because they are everywhere around here. Yeah, Jeep Wrangler owners do the wave. Especially at this one because it looks all modded up. Anyways the thing is pretty darn fun in the summer with the roof and doors off. So when it's too crappy to take the Vette out for dinner, we take the Jeep...
I've owned a 75 and 79 with V8's, a 91 straight 6, and a 93, inline 4.
All fun toys.
The 75 and 79 would pull the front wheels off the ground with low air in the tires real easy.
My daughter graduated from high school last year and ended with a full ride scholarship. Since she was saving me a lot of money so I helped her get her dream car, a Wrangler. It needed plenty of work and I put my corvette project work on hold to help her. I was thrilled to see her really get into and enjoy working on cars. We spent the summer restoring it and this was the final result. Sadly, while she was away at college last month she hydroplaned into a Jeep Cherokee and totaled her Wrangler. Thankfully no one was injured but it was sad to see the Wrangler go.

I got title to a 99 Wrangler that was abandoned at a house I was flipping. With a lot of elbow grease and a little mechanical work it shaped up very well. I found it to a lot of fun to drive but noisy, harsh riding, drafty, short on interior space, and hard on gas (sounds like a C3). Put it for sale on Craigslist and had an army descend on me.
Jeep people do wave some times. Not as much as say 10 years ago before the JK and now the JL. It's amazing how many are out on the street today. Many with lift kits and big tires. The bummer thing about the JK and JL is the 3.6 six cylinder. Early 2007-2010? JK's were quite slow. The improved 3.6 after that is much better.
But can I suggest a LS6/4L60E swap like my 98 Wrangler. Over ten years on the swap and it's been bullet proof. I added a 241 Rubicon transfer case and a Explorer rear axle to handle the power. It's quite quick but make sure you are headed in a straight line. I don't drive on the streets in the winter on snow covered roads in two wheel drive. It will come around on you so fast if you aren't careful. By far the best snow donut parking lot vehicle I've had.
It' really my summer time mall crawler. My winter time snow plow vehicle
Wow - lots of jeep stories! I had one too when I was younger. A 78 CJ7 with the 304 V8 and three speed stick. Was super fun, I bought big (not huge) tires and we went four wheeling where ever we could. Broke the exhaust coming back down a hill backwards then put headers on it. It had all 'custom' interior with carpet I glued on the inside of the soft top, plywood on the dash... Got laid off and had to sell it - and yeah it sold in like a day. Wish I had some pictures of it.
