Your link is to a 68 Corvette convertible. Is the car for sale?

yes it costs 35000 euro's. About 10k more expensive then other c3's up to year 72 (love those chrome bumpers). i read alot about making sure that the chassis isnt rusty, and that the undercarriage is good, but i dont really know what to look for in the pictures.

The seller has put one pic of a #2 body mount in the advert.(bodymount II ). Its the right hand side passenger foot well area. It looks brand new .Good chance the other 7 mounts are similar . You could ask him to send pics of the other 7 as a start. ?

Also some pics of the windscreen surround and VIN number area . Wiper door open ,and get his camera up under the dash to see as much of the steel work as possible .

Just because he is asking so much doesn't mean that area isn't rusty . He probably wont want to pull any trim completely off from around the windscreen .But if its leaking(rust holes ) ,people usually put extra sealant around the area to try and stop it , so look for that kind of stuff.

Thanks for the input i'll be sure to contact the seller for pictures of the other body mounts and pictures of the birdcage, before going to look at the car live. What do you think about the undercarriage of the car? also im adding an edited picture of the seller was wondering what the stuff circled red is. I haven't really seen it on any other c3 pictures.

Ok thank you. I'm still quite young and want to buy my second car. I fell in love with the curves the c3 vette offers, i've always wanted one. Don't know a lot about mechanics so i want to do my research.

The underside looks great , the whole car looks perfect . BUT that's the problem with fibreglass bodies , they can hide a lot of rusty steel.

I haven't looked at any of his videos yet either .

Looks like a nice car. But looks can be deceiving. Read the 10 rules and go check it out live, drive it for at least 30 min to see if any issues arise.

Just curious, where are you?

Good Luck!

Well i live in Germany but i do travel a lot, to Austria, Italy and balkan states. I would also be ready to travel 2000 miles just to get a really good deal. So actually after some more research, more questions arise. I read somewhere that all c3's before 1972 need leaded gas. You can't really buy it on gas stations, so my question is, does it really need leaded gas and if so where could i fuel it?

Nor can we here in the USA. You would be fine running premium gas in it. Some people add lead addictive to the gas but others say it’s a waste. More important is that your oil should have a high zinc content.

Good luck. Lots of hype in the ad don’t get lost in it. Just look for the facts. It looks great. They are beautiful cars. Ike

if you put 100.000 miles on it with unleaded, you would beat up your valve seats. all those old specs refer to a car as a daily use vehicle.
