People panic....
True story...in 1965 (I was a 15 yr old kid), I was riding in a car with a family friend going to the bakery after church.
She had a nice automatic 1963 Impala.
Pulled out of parking lot and said "watch this!".....stomped on it. Burned rubber.
Gas pedal stuck to the floor.
She panicked and yelled "JUMP".
She opened her door and jumped out leaving me sitting there with the cake on my lap.
No time to reach across and turn it off or throw into neutral.
I calmly set the cake on the floor, opened the door and rolled out in my Sunday church suit.
She was screaming because she thought I was still in the car.
Car flew down the road right into a telephone. Broke the pole and totaled the car except the engine was still running when I got there.
Reached in and turned off the key......
Her father was pissed......
God was with us that day as no one was hurt, especially anyone coming the other way.
Like I said....people panic.
too bad about the cake...I'm guessing you weren't able to save it...
God was with you that day.
He said "watch this" and held the pedal to the floor.
Maybe he saved her later in life by teaching her that it was not the wisest thing to do and you got a new Sunday church suit out of the deal.
LOL
Paranoia? Electronics geek? He probably has forward and side view cams too, lol.
Would guess the same thing - dual dash cam. Looked at those myself. Not for filming random accidents but as evidence for people who constantly seem to do all kinds of other stupid stuff while I'm driving a vintage car like texting and driving, putting on makeup using the rearview mirror while driving, cigarette in one hand and phone in other hand with no hand on the wheel, etc.
Had a close call this past summer coming back from a car show: waited at a double left turn lane, left turn arrows changed to green, person in the lane next to me took off as I was shifting from neutral into 1st gear and a young girl blew through a red light and just missed the car next to me that was making the left turn. Good lesson on look both ways before proceeding, especially on a green light if you are the first one in line. Young girl that blew the red light was on her cell phone. Dual dash cam could have come in handy if that moment resulted in an accident.

Very true......
She was never allowed to come visit us again. Which was too bad. She was nice.
But the insurance company gave my Mom $100 for the suit. She did not want to take it. Said I could just get a new pair of pants and clean up the jacket. But they said the check was cut...and could not take it back.
Read the comments in the video. Guy rips on everyone commenting. Claims he's built many 350's in his day although he states the throttle return spring broke. Either way dual springs exist for a reason. Pretty sure in '74 the vette came from the factory with dual springs due to safety.

..... and a key you can turn it off with and neutral and just maybe a clutch .....
Happened to me once in a Ford van I had as a service truck .... and nothing bad happened .......
does anything good ever actually happen after someone says "watch this" ..... ?
This exact same thing happened to my friend when I was sitting in the passenger seat of his new 82 Corvette.
It had less than 20 miles on it when he peeled out of the parking lot at work to show me how cool his new Vette was.
High sided it on the center divider and had to have it towed back to the dealer for repair.
Luckily there was no body on the other side of the road.
