are doing well. As an example this 69 sold for 51.700 earlier today. A co-worker yesterday asked my opinion and I felt 45k. I really don't think I can call it a restomod, rather a custom. Appears to be a frame on build as evidence of the engine bay which needs lots of attention. To do it right the motor need to come out. I would imagine stock suspension, nothing special about the interior and the builder/owner overlooked the rear body panel. Car has side pipes with factory rear panel with exhaust cut outs. That just ruins the whole persona of the car. Overall appears to be a nice car and strong money for it.

Sort of tough to call it a restomod- Crate big block- carb- stock interior not in excellent shape- it does have shiny red paint and shiny wheels. The rear panel is sort of -oh really - $50k and you couldn't put a correct panel on it!

So two drunk guys really wanted a shiny red corvette???

Exactly. I forgot to mention that. The only restomod I see on that car is the C6 mirrors and fancy cup holders....lol. Now I don't know if the 51,700 includes the 10% buyers fee. Damn I would hope so. If not he then paid 56,870?

Seeing what these restomods/customs are bringing I thought I over paid for mine but watching the prices I guess not. People want shinny customs and they bring higher dollar than stock cars....not the rare ones though. Heck, the 65 to 70 custom Mustangs have been crazy so far at this auction and a lot more of those were made compared to 68/72 Vettes.

I recorded it and skipped around so I may have missed a few things but it seemed the chrome C3s and the C2s were closer in price. Anyone else notice or am I wrong?

Pretty much sums up the whole thing in a short sentence.
The term resto mod is way over used now. Throw on a set of aftermarket wheels and a little bling and it is a resto mod. All these auction houses command stupid money for cars that are not worth it, and everyone now thinks there car is worth a ton more money. Its a buyer frenzy.
