What Does this Screw do?

Default What Does this Screw do?

On my 73 both holes are empty, no screw. I just had the latch mechanism out to clean and lube and it went back with the 3 latch screws below.


The AIM shows this screw but it is unclear to me what it attaches to, it’s not the latch. Thanks for any insight, Chris

I THINK it holds this plastic shield in place. Many end up getting left out

Lots of corvettes out there with the empty screw holes now
