Question about chrome valve cover triangular retainer plates...
Big block cars with chrome valve covers used triangular plates under the valve cover bolts to spread out the force on the valve cover flange. So, were the little steel plates chrome plated or zinc plated or cadmium plated? On painted valve covers, they were painted the color of the engine and natural steel. On chrome plated valve covers they were plated with something albeit the plating seemed very poorly done. What are the observations out there. Thanks, Terr
