Default Rallye wheels and spacers.

Ughhh Listen to this one... Darling wife got me redlines first Christmas. Awesome! Go to tire shop, guy says the tires can’t be put on my existing rims because the rims are too wide. I had 265/50 on there before which are wide tires so without looking into it, before I even picked up the tires and wheels from the shop... I ordered replacements on jegs because I hate having the car on jack stands in the garage.
That was the first and second idiot move I made. The 3rd was bring compulsive and wanting to get it done so quickly, I breezed through the backspacing specs for corvette.
Now the wheels come in and I bring it to a different tire shop and have them install the redlines on the new cheap rims. Of course I go to put them on the car and the wheels are rubbing on the parking brake bracket. Backspacing still doesn’t cross my mind. Smh.
Fourth idiotic thing... I assume it’s the wheel weight. Go back to tire shop have them put sticky weights on rears. Still rubs and the new wheels are now shaving metal shavings off because the clip for the parking brake mount is so sharp. I’m ready to push the car off a cliff.
quick google search and realize it’s the backspacing. I got 4.25” instead of 4”. Granted the proper spacing was $40 more a wheel but I would’ve paid that!!!!! Moral of the story- don’t be so impatient and impulsive. Calm down and think things through. Visit the forum frequently lol.
so I’ve added 5/16” universal Mr. Gaskett spacers to wheels. I believe I have enough thread on the lug nut per what I’ve read (diameter of stud should equal active threads on nut). What do y’all think? Safe?
oh and by the way, the original wheels that the first shop said wouldn’t work... guess what az code. Original 15x8 wheels. Yup. I’m a moron!

I would not use spacers, adapters yes but not spacers. However, best way to do this is to grind the parking brake bracket off and weld it back on top of the trailing arm.

As ToniH said, The PB bracket can be relocated fairly easily. I can’t recall if the new location is either on the top or bottom of the frame, but there are many threads in here illustrating it. Like you, other members have experienced rubbing on the bracket especially when wanting to use wider wheels.

You can even google corvette parking brake bracket relocation. I’m sure you get hits here on the Forum and probably YouTube as well

This would allow you to ditch those spacers as you don’t have enough thread engagement to be safe. (As far as my humble opinion goes).

Ok ,,,so,IMHO,,, SLOW DOWN AND DO IT RIGHT this time,,, use the correct parts and your fat tires will work perfectly and your car will be safe ,,,, don't dwell on the mistakes you made, and the money you spent,, it's only money and a lesson learned!,,

Also note that the wheels you show are not "hub centric". All stress is on wheel studs and no longer shared with hub center. You may not consider this an issue and may not be depending on how you use your car. Chip.

I would not drive around the block on that setup.
