Does anyone know the best way to make a L88 Data Plate into a 454 LS7 Data Plate like the one pictured here. I don’t care if it was an original part or not, but the pictured one was definitely made in the 70’s by someone.
Not sure if this helps, but I found this on Ecklers website. This one is for a ‘70. Search by year and maybe you’ll find something that will for the bill for you.
ETA: I have something similar for my ‘77. The engine isn’t original to the car, but the sticker/plate is mostly accurate for what’s in there now.
I don't know if they are stamped or silk screened, (I would suspect the new ones are silk screened)
You could lightly sand off the existing data and then either have a print shop put new ones on or print them yourself using clear label stock and a laser printer
Sand off the numbers/letters if you can, then have an engraver laser print what you want in its place. Or have them make a label to overlay.........that's how I did mine.
You can buy "blank" ones! You can buy a label printer with clear tape and print what you want and stick it on, or find a shop that does engraving and have them do it, good luck!👍
The graphic pictured was HOMEMADE. You can see the type doesn't line up and is a slightly different typeface.
Someone 'ruined' their original, scrubbed off the print and used LETRASET lettering (press-on decal lettering with no backing) Then you spray enamel clear over the whole thing and it looks 'original-ish'.
I do not know if LETRASET still exists, they were HUGE in the 70's and 80's until desktop publishing got going. Another 'dead man walking' was KROY lettering.

well I’m holding it and nothing about it appears “home made.” It’s printed in the same format and font including size to an original L88 one it was next too. It also is extremely old and that can be seen by the adhesive on the back. But as always on this forum, someone knows better.
They exist bust are rare. Here’s a picture of one of the only two I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t understand why Trim Parts hasn’t remade these as well.
Well it obviously was produced, because I actually have one, thus the picture I posted. It appears multiple other people have them too. So you sound foolish right there. I’ve been in this game a long time and GM did produce these just as they produced the emissions decals and air cleaner decals for the LS7 Vette they didn’t make. So besides you being wrong and the fact I own one of these (as pictured) as does it appear to be the case with several other members who have the exact same plate, stick to topics you actually know about. I am holding proof that you know little about this!
