Default Front Bumper Extension Installation

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any pictures how the front bumper extension on a 1980-82 C3 is attached? Is it just the 4 (I think) bolts into the radiator support and then 6 bolts into the fender flare thingys?

Thanks!

Lots of diagrams if you Google it. Hope this helps. If you are after the actual frame/bumper extension then you have to take the front bumper cover off to start and work your way down to the extension. The impact cushion is riveted to the front bumper bar but it all comes off together for these two pieces. It is bolted to the frame extension and the side extensions.

I have seen the diagrams, but pictures would really help me. Also, I have had trouble with the name of the piece I am referring to because I have heard and seen it called different things. According to the diagram you posted, The piece I am asking about is the lower valence panel.

That does clarify what you are trying to take off. Yes it is bolted to the radiator core support as you thought but has 5 bolts there. On each side of the valance there are 3 more bolts on each end. Finally if the lower black rubber air dams are still on, they will have to be removed too. These bolt to the bottom of the valance and the bumper cover. Try this link for some pictures.

Mine is missing, so I just ordered a reproduction one from Ecklers.

Now after looking at that post you shared I notice that the metal bracket that is attached to the front bumper area of my car is damages and bent up, and is missing the rod that connects to the center of the lower valence panel to support it.

Does anyone know where I can get a hold of one, or do I need to go junking?

Are you talking about the rod the vacuum canister is mounted on? Either Ebay or a Vette salvage for the rod. I thought I saw the rod on Ebay but will have to look again. If the bracket and flat support piece that the valance hangs on are still there you can straighten them. Did you order the black air dams(critical for cooling) or the valance?

I ordered the valance, front air dam extension retainers and the lower spoilers...

The part that I am concerned about is the metal bracket that the vacuum canister is mounted to (I suppose). The vacuum canister is there and so is the bracket, but if I remember correctly the lower portion is bent quite a bit. I can't tell for sure right now because my car is in the shop. Once I get my car back I will take pictures and post them.

Sounds good! Let us know how it goes. Here is a link for that vacuum canister bracket.
