Default AC Delco alternator

Remanufactured AC Delco 63 amp alternator is $32 (plus core). Any reason to spend +/- $100 more for new or higher amps (say 80) on a DD? Will pay extra if any meaningful benefit but i don't see it...the original ran everything perfectly fine.

'77 with AC, with aftermarket stereo and amp the only extra draw.

Thanks.

Need to check in the daylight but pretty sure it's original.

There were 4 different amp alternators, and 5 different part numbers used in 77.

L-48 without air or rear defogger - 37 - amp - #1102394 (there is some question as to whether this one was actually ever used)
L-48 and L-82 without air or rear defogger - 42 amp - #1102474
L-48 and L-82 with air and/or rear defogger - 61 amp - #1102484 (early production)
L-48 and L-82 with air and/or rear defogger - 63 amp - #1102908 & #1102909 (the 2 different part number 63 amp alternators were used at different times during 77)

63 amp is the correct alternator for your car, and if your charging system has been working fine up to now, I see no reason to need to go to a higher output alternator now.

Wow, awesome info. Just what I needed. I have early 77 L82, AC and defrost. I'll get the 63 ACD. Thank you very much.
