On the way to work you have to go through a couple of stoplights - one at the end of the interstate offramp, left turn then you hit another light that's just about a 1/4 mile down the road where you make another left onto the home stretch. Waiting on these two lights can be a major pita - this stupid 1/4 mile distance can represent close to half of the commute time. They have them timed so that even though the second light might be green when you round the corner from the first one it's red by the time you get up to it.
...with a normal car that is.
However...my supercharged 'Vette gets around that first corner nimbly and then gobbles up distance so much quicker that if I'm at the front of the line at the offramp light I can easily be at and make the left turn at that second light with plenty of margin to watch for pedestrians who might ignore the walk/don't walk signs and bicyclists.
I've tried to beat that second light in my 302-powered F-150 which is reasonably peppy, but it just doesn't move fast enough.

The honest answer is I'm not watching the speedo, I'm watching the road.
It's not like I'm power-sliding around the corner at the second light, I'm off it well before I reach it and am able to get around the corner without stunt-driving maneuvers.
