1968, Looking for input . I'm installing the seat belts. My question is on the retractor portion, does the reinforcement bracket get secured on top of the carpet. This makes sense I think. If anyone has a picture of this installed I would appreciate it. The reinforcement bracket secures down at the back, bottom inside at the sill, door jamb area.
Thanks again.
Here’s a picture from Willcox Corvette’s tech help section of a 68 showing seat belts installed. The retractor is under the carpet and the male seat belt end comes up through the grommet next to the door sill.

the retractor goes under the carpet and If I remember there is a plastic cover/ shield that goes over it. There should be a big steal sheild/ guide by the door as well that the belt goes underneath.
Here are some pictures from my 73 convertible. Willcox puts a small slit in the carpet and pulls the metal belt end through it so you don’t see the plastic cover. I didn’t use the grommets on mine.
PO had cut a large chunk of the carpet away, and it looked really bad. Pull new carpet over metal buckle and cut a slit for the buckle to come through, then put the carpet under the metal aluminum threshold
