Brakes stopped working and decided that the booster was the issue, i hope. While removing the booster i found some bubba work. First the upper left bolt, the hardest one to get to, was thankfully not installed. Thanks bubba, I guess. I then get the thing off and see this.
What is going on here. I consulted the assembly manual and didn’t find what the arm is on the steering column and the big issue is the wire tied to it and anchored to the vacuum line clamp. Can anyone shed some light and help me fix this?
Another question related to the booster reinstallation. As I indicated, the previous owner did not install the upper left nut on the brake booster bolt. This seems to me to be the most difficult one to work with. For those of you with knowledge, when I reinstall the new booster, do I need to remove the steering column?
Yes it can be done with it in there. It is easier with it out but it can be done. You need a extension and a good joint on the end and a socket. You load the nut in and stab it up there. Done it many time. Also easier if the seat is out.
