I recently discovered this vacuum hose. It ends just above the hood release. I followed with my hand to the firewall, the OD is 7/16 and the ID is 1/4.
Thank you for your quick response. I did not consider the headlight override option. I was tracking an A/C issue and discovered this errant hose.
That should be easy to eliminate the headlights. If the headlight doors work without it connected, it's gotta be for the A/C. I believe any open vacuum line in the headlight system will not allow full open/close function.
thank you for your response. The headlights come up. I had not yet tried the headlight override. However, your response points me in another opportunity.
I can fit my body into the driver footwell enough to see the items under the dash, but not reach them.
Red Sox....you'd hear the vacuum leak...pretty distinctive.
Yup! I know it's a pain to get under the dash....I'd highly recommend pulling the driver's seat.....four bolts that you should lube liberally and one connector for the power seat. I guarantee you all sorts of 'treasures' under the seat!
A vacuum gauge will also give you some info. Getting the vacuum diagram will make things really clear.
You can disconnect the HVAC controls and plug them from the engine compt side of the fire wall. During these trying times...a good use for those un-used golf tees! lol.
Be safe in MA....as I've said before...my old home....my heart is breaking.
thank you again for your insights. I have discovered a vacuum diagram, it helped clear up some questions. I was not feeling ambitious enough to remove the seat, but that appears to be my only option to get things right.
We currently reside in Maine, after moving back from Oro Valley, AZ. Don’t let your heart break too much, it is currently 36 degrees with snow flurries.
Per this diagram I believe that the hose in question goes from G to K. Also, is the vacuum valve with the 5 connections located on the passenger kick panel by the fresh air vent?
Given the size and location that's almost certainly for the cruise control. It leads to a vacuum switch on the brake pedal bracket above the brake light switch.
If your cruise control has been removed or disabled don't worry about it.
