Also don't forget new rear hoses between the tank and fuel and return metal lines. Also you WILL need a new cork gasket between the filler neck and top of the 69 tank. Mel is right on the sender. It's cheap and will come with a new filter sock on it. I installed a new tank on my 69 and it was about 4 hours as Mel said. If you do it yourself it is easier to rotate the tank up into position with that big filler neck off then install it from the top. Also make sure the filler neck is in the center of the hole up top before you tighten down the straps on the tank or it will look kind of weird if it's off to one side. If you have somebody else do it you can save some valuable time if you remove the spare tire, tub and upper flat piece at home. You might even get lucky and find your build sheet up there on top of the tank.

I do not have an answer to your original question as I did this repair myself about 6 months ago. Just a few things to note, it was a really easy job and I am a learning shade-tree mechanic. I would replace the neck filler boot while it is out along with the drain hose that has the spring, mine was corroded inside and the boot has small micro cracks in it which is what helped lead to the tank rusting out. Canadagrant is right on the money, the my build sheet was on the tank and mostly intact. Pretty cool to see all the options it left the factory with. Mine is a 73 but it is pretty similar and there are a few other things to look for if you want. Pay attention to if the new gas tank and cap are vented or not, mine was not originally but with the new tank it should have been as it was missing carbon emissions thing and I had so many issues.... Hope it goes well!
