Modified Hood Hinge
I've got a 78 corvette that I'm swapping a twin turbo charged 6.0L LS into. I've already welded up custom headers and I'm now working on charge cooling. I'm going to be placing the intercooler in front of the stock radiator which I'm pretty sure is going to interfere with the hood as it currently hinges at the stock location. Has anyone every built custom hood hinges or seen a set of custom hood hinges that allow the hood to tilt all the way forward without dipping below the nose? I've already built and modified 3 sets of hinges and I always run into the same problem. I can't get the pivot point far enough forward and high enough so the leading edge of the hood always contacts the trailing edge of the nose of the car as the hood tries to hinge forward. After 3 attempts I'm stumped, I think the solution is something like a modern trunk hinge where the hinge has 2 separate pivot points causing the hood to rotate up and forward at the same time. I'm trying to keep it as stock looking as possible so I want to avoid hood pins if I can. Any advice would be appreciated.
