Introduction
I’ve been poking around the forum over the last couple weeks - lots of great information and projects!
I recently bought a 1981 Corvette as a father son project car when my dad retired. Not surprising, it’s more work than we thought, but we’re both still having fun working through the restoration.
While the 81 Corvette might be memorable for most. I specifically selected it based on the stories my dad had about the 81 he rode around in. In the early 80’s my dad worked for the army as a civilian in Germany and had a good buddy who side hustled by bringing new Corvettes to Europe and buying European cars to import to the States.
The stories I would hear about my dad and his buddy cruising down the autobahn, all while sinking the speedometer needle well beyond the printed 85 mph - or the 81’s attention stealing by parking it in front of the Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco, always brought a smile to my face sealed my appreciation for the car.
When my dad retired last year at 70, I couldn’t help, bring some of those fond memories back.
Anyway, we’re looking forward to getting it back to glory.
