Engine rattling L82 1979
Hello everybody,
Since a few days ago, I got rattling noises at the L82 engine. The only changing that I did is to rebuilt Rochester Carburetor. Has anyone had already this issue ? :

Nice video. 
Hard to tell from your sound byte but I think cuisinartvette got it. All I can hear is what may be a slight exhaust leak.
To see if you can isolate your noise, try taking a piece of hose (heater hose, garden hose, anything) about 3 or 4 feet long, hold it to your ear and move the other end around the carb base, EGR and exhaust manifolds while somebody revs the car like you did in the video. Be sure your EGR isn't opening when it shouldn't.

If it just started after you pulled an relaced the carb, check around the carb for a disconnected hose or loose bolt, I doubt it could be a vacuum leakk but you never know,, It could be causing something to sound like an exhaust leak. Usually when something suddenly appears after your work, its usually related to what you touched. If that isnt it, stick a handle of a long screwdriver in your ear and use it as a stethoscope or a piece of tubing and touch the other end to your valve covers, then manifolds and see if it gets louder, you'll narrow it down. Mines ticking and I narrowed it down to valve lash....

I agree. From what I hear it sounds very similar to what mine sounded like and it ended up being an exhaust leak. My car has headers so a new gasket and problem fixed. I hope the solution to your issue ends up being as easy of a fix as mine was. Good luck.
