Default Washing the convertible hatch

Out of curiosity, convertible owners, how do you wash the area of the hatch inside of where the top covers?

Haven't had to do this yet because I'm not to that point on my restoration, but I would use a detailing spray and wipe it down with a microfiber towel.

Drive thru car wash with top down. Easy peasy. Personally I am still using stripper and blades...

I mean the painted area of the hatch that doesn’t get washed when you wash your car with the top up.

I have used waterless car wash in the past, but curious what others do.

I get ya now,,,,, well, my top is usually folded down when I wash the car, so that area gets treated just like the rest of the painted areas,,,any little bit of water, mist or drips that enter the inside get cleaned up when I dry and detail the interior,,, That's how I do it,,,,

oh really? Interesting. How do you keep water from straight running into the car with the side that faces into the car sloping inward?

On my 73, after washing the car with the top up, I dry the car, then I unlatch the two rear pins and spray (quick detailed) the rear deck that is still closed. I have a new top and don’t like the idea of storing The new top while it’s still wet. Once I clean the deck, I push the window area of the top down to engage the two long pins. Sometimes I have to unhook the three levers above the visors, because my top is so tight.

I wash mine with the top down and just be careful around that area. I aim the hose towards the back so it runs that way and park so the rear of the car tends to be downhill

I wash my car with the top up, then when Im drying with a microfiber, I release the top and raise the rear a few inches , which allows the deck lid to be opened and the rear of the top to be let back down. I then clean and dry the deck lid with the microfiber while the deck lid is up.. I allow the top to dry completely before I reattach or put it down.

For me, I use a nozzle on the end of my garden hose that regulates the amount of water flow, and allows me to direct the water to the rear of the car,, quite simple to use and can be purchased at most stores,,
 . Try one,,
Available in many colors too,,

Blue is my favorite,,,,,

Hell, it’s a convertible. I’ve never had the top up or the hardtop mounted.

Circling back to this. Thanks for all the responses. Seems I've been over complicating this. :-) I just pulled the trigger on a new C3 vert, so I'll be giving this a try soon.

By hand. Tip it up if required.
1.spray with hose in appropriate direction.
2. Micro towel NEW with soap.
3. Spray again
4. Dry with leaf blower.

I try not to spray a lot of water nor get it down the 'astro ventilation' soak-the-carpet holes!

45 years works for me!
