78 windshield
I’m having the windshield in my 78 replaced. The glass shop said they had to order a special gasket. Doesn’t the windshield just go in with Butyl tape or adhesive? What other parts are needed for a windshield replacement?

Urethane. Maybe they’re getting some Marcy foam dam to help set your height.
Butyl tape is evil. Doesn’t comply to FMVSS212. Doesn’t return the vehicle to original condition. If you clips are good, it’s an out and in.

Clips won't be good. Order these. https://www.ebay.com/itm/FITS-CORVET...53.m2749.l2649 these clips are the only ones you have to release to remove trim. the 2 side pieces are held by screws you will see after removing A pillar weatherstrip. Windshield lip will need some attention. I pulled my own. once you find how to remove trim, glass is barely attached to windshield frame. I have clips coming today. Glass guy coming tomorrow. EDIT: order these instead. the screws are special. i am screwing around with the wrong screws. https://www.ebay.com/itm/10-NOS-WIND....c100008.m2219 glass guy thursday. you will unscrew those 10 clips and clean repaint windshield frame. somehow my holes all disappeared. even with the trim telling you exactly where the clips were, the holes cannot be located. so put some #6 screws in the holes so they don't get lost. they are #8 but you don't wanna screw #8's in too many times.
skim thru this. watch from about 3;45 and pause it at 4:08. read the list of trim has to be back on before glass goes in. and don't forget the extra clip nut each side for the visors.
