Hey there. I was looking for a little help to identify what might be going on with my '71 big block. When I put the car away for the winter, I had a pin hole in my fuel line between the carb and the pump, everything else was fine. I pulled the car out this weekend and fixed the fuel line. I started the car up and it sounds great but I started to notice some smoke coming from the passenger side of the engine block near cylinder #8. I turned the car off to investigate. I thought maybe there was an exhaust leak near the manifold but that did not seem to be the case. I did notice some oil sitting on the block and around the covers. I cleaned it up best I could and started the engine. The smoke came back. It only occurs once the engine warms up. I need to get the car inspected and have my fuel line work checked. I am reluctant to drive with the smoke, any thoughts? Is this just oil burning off the block or an indicator of some other issue. Couple videos attached. Any input would be welcomed.
like sully said, probably valve cover gasket. After sitting a long time it collected there and should burn off pretty quick once it gets up to temp unless the leak is large and keeps supplying oil to the area.
all good advice.. probably seepage from the long winter nap, wipe your valve cover gasket with a paper towel, let it idle for a while to either burn off or get worse...
if worse, get it fixed....
