Todays findings. Hooked up the vacuum pump. Hit the wiper switch and I can hear the relay in the console click and I can feel the one on the back of the tach click. I would imagine that means it is working. With everything in normal position (bypass is in normal position). I hit the wiper switch nothing opens. But when I manually open the door the wipers will work and the door will stay open. When I shut the wipers the wipers go down into the park position and the door closes as normal. Now when I go to reopen the door I have to put the wiper switch to on and that seems to release the vacuum and I can open the door manually. If I don't do that I can't open the door. It seems the problem is in the opening of the door. Which would point me to the relay. I ordered all the parts for the door. So I would have all the parts on hand and I will send back the ones I don't need. The only thing I didn't order was the vacuum canister.

Did you have the vacuum pump hooked up at the intake manifold hose or just under the dash? And when you pulled the override out previously. It would open correct? Or where you moving it by hand. The override is just doing what the tach valve is doing......just manually. If not it's the relay.... you can pull one of the headlight actuator relays and put it in place of the wiper actuator relay for a test... the relay has to open slow enough to vent the vacuum on the opposite side so if it moves too quick you would have a vacuum on both sides, then it wouldn't move at all, even by hand. The can should be fine if it worked on bypass.

When the door is supposed to be opening normally you can pull the hose going to the open side of the actuator and feel for suction, then pull the close side hose and make sure there is no suction...

Well I had my vacuum pump hooked up where the system hooks to the intake. I put it to the main line that supplies everything. When I did it the other day there was a small amount of vacuum. I had the pump hooked up and was listening for leaks. Yesterday I did the same thing and didn't hear anything. Today I heard a small leak at the canister. On the side that has the hose that opens the door. The seal is ripped. Now I don't know if that was the problem, but it is a problem. I am wondering if that seal had a small leak and from me opening it tore it. So I had to order that today. And it works exactly like you say above. I think it is a bad canister.

Someone mentioned that could be a problem..I have the old coffee can style...you can pull it out and use the vacuum pump on it directly to test it, or try and do it installed

I mentioned the grommet in post #18 above. Just order a grommet and replace it. I would suggest not disassembling anything else meanwhile.

The new canister will be here Tuesday. I bought a canister because mine is a little beat up looking. Everything else I ordered came the other day.

Well the canister came and went into the car. Everything seems to work properly now. I want to thank everyone that came here and helped out.
