Nobody sells the correct argent silver(green/blue)hue. Search archive here and you will find some posts for formulas, but I could
never really figure them out with the correct mixtures to amount to mix, Quart or Gallon etc.....
i bet they bought a semi-truck tanker full of silver paint and the manufacturer didn't clean out their tanks well enough after the last run of green. they looked at the color and said "****. we can only use this stuff on wheels!"
If you're doing more than just touch-up, I would spray out of a spray gun, use catalyzed paint (vs spray can paint). It's tougher and resists wear and looks better longer. Yer always going to have dogs sneak over from wherever and pee on the wheels, even when you're not looking. You can knock down the shine a little by adding some flattening agent to the paint if you so desire. It probably makes more sense to ask the paint store to add some (if they will) just b/c the flattening agent is like $70 a qt nowadays. But a good product to have onhand if you do much paint work.
If you sandblast the wheels, consider using a self-etching primer (here you CAN use a spray can of self-etching) for better corrosion resistance. Or a good 2k primer.
