I have the best luck with Auto Zone because you can check online and outsmart the system, check on hands at several locations,, then go down there with part numbers in your hand and make the transaction simple. Plus, the few times I need something one-off, like a custom radiator hose or U joint, they let me in the back and go through their stock. And lastly, their warranty can't be beat. So many items have lifetime warranties and they keep it all on file, recently they replaced a 5 year old leaking brake caliper on my C3, no charge, no questions asked.
Create an account, look at parts, leave site, wait for email discount. Happens every time. Plus I always get the discount, pay online, and pick up at store near me in an hour. No waiting for parts while bozo answers phone calls ahead of you.

Edit: This is actually Advance Auto that always sends a discount code if i leave without buying.

If you're still looking for plugs I'd suggest the NGK iridium augiedoggy mentioned.
I put them in my Vette a few years ago. First time it ever used anything but AC.
Gave me the smoothest idle I've ever had.

I don't know why RockAuto suggested that one. But I don't use RockAuto to search for parts, just to buy them. I haven't been burned, yet, and I don't have to play the silly coupon game like with Advance or Autozone. Hopefully some of the tips above and below will help you!

you all are complaining about a few bucks on return shipping, for a part you get like 40%+ off the local parts place? evn if you reorder youre still coming out on top. youre not getting burned.
yes its hit or miss, do your research, they have nice inventory photos and part numbers. You cna even cross reference the numbers onto Amazon, sometimes priced simialr, with no hassle returns.
Ive bough tons of stuff from RockAuto them in the past 10+ years.
For calipers, pumps, master cylinders, cores etc; just bite the bullet and pay extra at the local auto parts, I get lifetime warranty, and convinience to just walk in and get a new one. no shipping cores etc.

It wasn't a horrible burn for me, but i could have done better buying local on both occasions, once you consider return shipping charges. Not to mention the inconvenience and aggravation of the return and having to go to the local auto parts store anyway.

I don't know either, but it was wrong and the part is still listed there.

I quit doing that a long time ago. But I really feel like a sucker if I ever walk in and pay full price.

I will still use RA, just not for the vette.

I've used RockAuto quite a bit with no problems, even core returns. I do my research before I go there. I got the best prices from them and through Amazon when I did my front end rebuild. We have an old-school parts store nearby, used to be a speed shop and sort of still is. Just like the RA commercial it is frustrating as hell to watch them one finger type and then be told 'it'll be on the truck tomorrow' and might or might not be. I am glad for the alternative.

AdvanceAuto and AutoZone are very useful - for getting rid of waste oil and antifreeze, maybe a cool hat once in a while.

When you think about the size of the parts database RA has to maintain errors are no surprise. I've found it to be pretty well kept and useful.

Two weeks ago I needed to buy a power steering pump and reservoir for my Vette. I was concerned about recent complaints about getting the wrong product, returning items, paying for shipping etc. but went with RA. I have never had a problem before.

Product arrived in 3 days, installed without a problem, no leaks, and returned the old to get a core refund. I bought a Fedex label from RA for $6, which I thought was cheap for the weight and the size of the box being returned. Sent it out Tuesday and this morning received a credit on my account.

I use the coupons from AA to pick up maintenance items. Car wash, windshield washer, etc. Pay on online and pick it up at my leisure.

Surprisingly, Home Depot has pretty good prices on oil (depending what you're looking for), Sea Foam, etc.
