Default '82 Interior Upgrade

Hi, all.
Quick question for those on this forum who are much brighter than I...

I am in the initial stages of refurbishing the interior of my '82. Seats (total), door panels/armrest/handles, steering wheel, dash, radio, and carpeting (front/back). My question is: Would it be best to buy each individually and install before going on to next or, buy everything in bulk all at one time? Not sure if there is a cost benefit to buying everything at once or not. My other concern is color lot; not thrilled with the thought of having different shades of (charcoal) color.

Any advice would be graciously appreciated!

Usually with our suppliers there is a discount (fairly appreciable) when buying $750 or more. I would recommend doing this.
1. If anything is wrong....ONE point of contact.
2. Everything comes in at the same time (basically).
3. Usually dye lots and etc match.
4. Much joy happens when you spread that all out over the living room! LOL

If you have a CE....this is going to be big bux, as it was the most expensive interior EVER put into a Corvette. The only thing NOT CE specific are the door handles arm rests and the handbrake console. Other than little detail parts.
I costed out a complete CE interior at north of $3000. So you will EASILY be in that $750 break point almost immediately.
Your Avatar shows a CE badge, like mine....is it a CE???????

good luck...much fun ensues!

Been down this road a few times with my 82. I don't think there is any benefit of buying everything at once unless whoever you buying from is offering a large discount, then I guess it would be up top you if that's the way to go or not. What color interior do you have? If it is a CE interior get ready to grab your ankles and bend over. Mine is tan as the original goes, but after replacing the carpet and HATING that color since it shows all the dirt, I went with a tad darker shade on the carpet and looks great and sets off the rest of the interior which is still tan. I went with the 100% leather seats, all new. I bought everything from Corvette America and the guy in their interior department helped me a lot on colors and sent me a swatch as well to get an idea if that's what I wanted.

So, after less the a year with the original color new carpet set front and back, I ripped it out and installed the darker color and love it. Also, I repainted all the plastic trim in the interior to match the seat leather color tan. Used SEM brand and had it custom mixed at the auto paint store. Used my spray gun to put it on and came out great IMO. To be successful with the interior color repaint it is ALL in the prep work. Good luck with your project and take your time and do it only once.

My avatar is wrong because I linked to the wrong image. :-(

Charcoal interior. I was also thinking about getting the leather seats stitched with the '82 logo on the headrest but, not sure this is a smart thing to have done.

Picture. Outside is much nicer than the inside, that's why I always keep the doors closed when taking a picture.

Love the Silver! Buccy and I are friends...so now you have 'point-counterpoint'

Just get onto CA and CC and Al Knoch and (other vendors) and cost everything out. A little spreadsheet would help. Personnaly I get the catalogs...and 'tab' them.
Sometimes the websites er-ah SUCK! (pet peeve..it's almost like they've never tried to use their own websites!)

Indeed, some vendors are cheaper on abc parts and some are cheaper on xyz parts....Some have China Sourced parts and Some are USA....this of course is your own decision.

Great looking car! BTW. Buccy is 'the authority' on Cross-Fire engines.

Good Luck...worth every penny!

ps if you live in SUN Diego...what would you call HERE! lol {Planet Crematoria!}

Thanks "L-46" & "Bucc" for the helpful gouge. Looks like I'll be spending some time crafting a spreadsheet going forward.

Appreciate the assistance, as always!

Nice 82!

Buccy and I are friends... Wait, Wha?!

BTW. Buccy is 'the authority' on Cross-Fire engines. Wha...again!

LOL, just messin' with Hal. He's OK, even though he drives a CE, somebody has to.

On a serious note, if you need something, give me a shout and I'll see if I can help out.

This is from the guy who can't manage to park his Corvette in the same COUNTY at the largest, oldest Corvette Show in AZ?
I'm sure, it's because he's AGONIZING over the color of his carpet!

Tom...See you in OCT...I'll save you a space with Barbed wire! lol

Be Well!
