Hello, I'm kinda new to this. My fiancee just got me a 77 c3 and its not running. Previous owner said he drove it and parked it next day it would not crank. He was not mechanically inclined at all.. he decided that it was the key ignition so ripped the steering column apart trying to change it and left it there. When I got it I replace the battery and the starter because he said he had issues with it getting hot and not starting so. I've read multiple posts joined Facebook c3 groups and im a little lost on where to go next. When I turn the key I have lights on fash but no clicks or any noise. Please help!
Check the large wire at statter to see if you have 12 volts there. The positive red battery cable runs there. Next is your ground connected there from engine to frame. Large black wire. Next you have fusible links at starter . Are they blown or open?

Is it auto or standard transmission. If it auto try putting it in nuetral to start it, the park safety switch could need adjustment. If it’s standard try pushing in the clutch to start it. Both of these switches can be bypassed to test it. You may need to check the wiring to the starter, the PO may have fried a Fusible link so the solenoid may not be getting power. You can jump from the hot lug to the starter wire to see if it will start as a test. Most part stores sell a remote start tool that is a hand held switch to do this. You can use a screw driver as well if your brave or crazy
also large ground on frame directly below battery. also, roll down to post 107 and read. this is supposed to help people stop making mistakes buying a car needing too much, but also works to show you how to inspect this beastie to see how much it needs. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...orvette-6.html rule 5 rust. start there. now, you get it to start, make sure it stops before going anywhere. you have brakes? hit em HARD! hard like a 2-year-old just chased a ball into the street. try to blow a line. cuz if something is gonna pop, you want it to be at 0 mph... can you reach the starter solenoid? try to jump big red top wire to the S terminal. outboard one. if it cranks it is the circuit that fires the starter. neutral or clutch switch. ignition switch. wiring. fusible links. and check the date code on all 4 tires.
