I just put new weather stripping on my glass T Tops, now they don’t fit, I set them in the sun to soften the rubber, tried one and got it on but it sits 3/16 above the roof, any ideas?
3/16 doesn't sound too bad actually, the tops (especially the glass ones after 78 (or was it 77?)) sat up from the rear crossover piece by a fair amount
Check the fit spec in the AIM and I'm sure it was probably close to where you are

Correct. 78-82's delivered with factory glass tops, came with a sleeve on the visor saying that the glass tops do not sit flush, and warning not to attempt to adjust them.

I replaced WX stripping on a set of 78 glass tops and still tweaking the height after a year on the car. Last couple of weeks I've Called Melrose Tops and talked to Dave, the owner. Chris in the video above is one of his installers. Be patient and let them settle in. All the tongues need to remain loose including the latch mechanisms. Take the plastic covers off as Chris explains in the video.
He advises being very gentle with glass tops...originals are no longer available. I called about the gap, or lack of between the inboard rear and outboard rear. The inboard was near even with the body surround while the outbroad was 3/16", the recommended height. He suggests that the rubber edge should be entirely visible from the rear. To do this I've added seven shims to the inboard tongue! Shim pack is ten shims so had to call to get another pack for other side plus front. But Dave says that those edges must clear the body so when driven, the bouncin around protects them from twisting and contacting body parts, including the front edge.
Source makes a difference as well...the CRC is best. Got mine from Wilcox, same as what Melrose Tops uses.
