Default 71 vert latch question

Proud new owner of a 71 BB vert. Latches on the hard and soft tops don't have the rubber disk inserts that I've seen on other similar vintage cars. Spoke to a rep for ecklers and have searched around and haven't had luck finding those inserts. Any suggestions on where to source a half dozen?

What are you calling "rubber disk inserts"? Post a pic.

There are rubber bumpers/pads that come on the end of the threaded adjustment screws. I purchased mine from Corvette America/ Top Flight. I couldn’t find just the rubber pad/bumper.

Are you referring to these?

I think he’s referring to the rubber piece on the end of the latch.

Yes those are the culprits. The ones I’ve seen on a 73 were actually inserts rather than boot style and the latches I have have a recessed area that I figured fit a disc. Either way, I have metal on metal now.
Appreciate the help! Better than what ecklers could offer when I called!🤪

I was missing all of those, too. I cut some 1/4” vacuum hose into short pieces and glued them into the “cups” with black weatherstrip cement. No more metal on metal.

You have a beautiful '71 LS5 ajchance, I hope you enjoy if for many years.

I don't know what the heck bobby70 is referring to, I only try to help fellow members on this forum in a polite and professional manor.
I couldn't find the replacement rubber inserts you were looking for, so I posted the replacement adjustment bolts with rubber that you could use if you couldn't find just the rubber parts.

I don't need this kind of harassment and will follow Alan71 out the same door and not look back. Looks like my days on the CF are numbered.

Thanks all for the advice. Great tips. Simple economical solutions make room for more flexibility to tackle more projects!

Ive definitely learned not to read in too much with peoples posts. I’ve got many more issues where I’d rather devote my attention.
