Default 77 Fluids...

Hey everyone

1. AT fluid:
I drained almost all the fluid from my 77 TH350 (removed the pan).
It has a brown color... Is this normal?

No matter what, I will certainly drain the AT system (I’ve read that it’s not easy to do a full drain…).
Is it OK to use fluid from two different brands (both Dexron III)? First drain with one, than finally fill with another brand?

Will this fluid be okay to use with the TH350.
https://eurol.com/en/products/eurol-atf-iii-g/

Here is the fluid I will use to do the draining:

2. Engine oil:
My engine is an L48. I never drive in the winter
Is the following oil a good choice? (15W40)
https://www.mpmoil.co.uk/products/01...40-multi-grade

Can you tell the difference between mineral and synthetic oil?
I ask this because I don’t know what the PO used.

3. Brake fluid:
I’ve got 2L of DOT4 fluid in my garage (container never opened):
https://catalogus.total.be/nl/products/467/HBF-4

https://www.mpmoil.co.uk/products/20...ot-4?region=us

It’s from two different brands. Can I use both cans/brands in my brake system without getting into trouble?

I will do a complete drain and bleed of the brake system that I already have rebuild.
In this case I also don’t know what fluids the PO used.

The cap on the master cylinder states: ‘Use only DOT3 fluid’...

That motor oil's CD / SF api rating is an indication (Not proof) that oil should have a relatively high Zinc-Phosphorus content (to help your cam & lifters)

Dexron is backwards compatible.

Typically, dexron II & III are clear and a bit darker color red than bottled maraschino cocktail cherry juice.
Brown atf is Not good, does it have a slight "burn" smell ?

DOT 4 is better than DOT 3 and they CAN be mixed.

Can't smell anything "burned"... What if I'm wrong?

What type Dexron III should I use then: synthetic or mineral?
