Default Hood insulation pin

Quick question that I am hoping someone can answer. What is used to bond the hood insulation pins to the underside of the hood? VPA? Something else? I appreciate any feedback or advice.

Thanks,
Bryan (BEJ)

Can't help if you are interested in originality
But I used the epoxy I also used for bonding my 69 front clip (West System 105 Epoxy Resin and 206 slow hardener).

Hey Bryan,

I just attached one of mine last weekend and used this, photo attached below.

To help keep the pin secured to the underside of the hood while the epoxy was curing I used a piece of 2x4, couple of shims, and a section of 1" OD PVC pipe to fit flush around the pin and apply equal pressure to the base of the hood insulation pin. Shims (old paint stir sticks) between the 2x4 and the PVC allowed me to put a very slightest amount of pressure on the underside of the hood with the hood up and latched. I let it sit overnight to cure. Rock solid. The dark gray epoxy was a pretty good color match to the original corvette bond.

Hope that helps. Bought the epoxy at Auto Zone

Kevin

That's a great idea. I was planning to take the hood off for some other work so that would be even easier. Thanks.
