Hi to all I am trying to rebuild the steering column in my 69 It had more then the usual problems . I am close to finished but I am not sure that I have all the parts . The diagrams I have looked at show an upper bearing seat (69-72) But I am not sure it is present nor can i find a picture of it . I tried buying a latter model seat because I read most of GM's columns are alike ( part # 15231641 ) but it does not fit over shaft . I did see what I thought was the part on yoy tube so I bought the aformentioned piece .To make things more difficult my AM manual does not have the pages I believe the blowup would be on . I think it was in the area of p37-p40 options .So if some does have these pages maybe I could get a copy or at least GM's part #. Does any one know where to get this part or have a picture of it . Thanks
You can get all the parts you want plus they have videos on how to rebuild the column its called Steering Column Services there in New Mexico check out there website very helpful if you talk to the owner please tell him Bob Davis sent you thanks

FWIW: you cannot use page numbers for AIM references since the exiting AIMs could be different and page numbers may not coincide. Use the UPC and UPC sheet numbers at the bottom of the AIM page. My hunch is you may need UPC N37 Sheet A1.
Thank you both for your responses .But in requards to Bobby the part that steering column services is showing is the one I have purchased but does not fit over the upper shaft . And to easy Mike I had gone thru the aim and on the options page understeering it shows upc-9 n40 steering hydraulic and n37 steering telescoping .My manual and maybe all aims from corvette America have omitted these pages .Mine has nothing between n14 A4 & n40 A3. I was only using 37-40 as a referance . So I am am still looking for the missing assemble pages. Thanks again . P.S also have an AIM for a 68 ( which I know did not come with T&T ) that list T&T as optional but those pages are also missing. Thanks
A photo would help. What's the build date of your car? There are changes made through the model year.
earlier versions used a metal retainer over the upper bearing that was flat. That was changed to a dish shaped retainer with a split washer on top. I have all these pieces.
Greg
Ok Greg The build date is oct 14 of 69 I have to tell you there is no guarantee anything is orginal . If I am reading your post wright I may actually have what could be correct parts . My confusion stems from the diagrams I could find on line which appear to show the castellated retainer which I pictured on the shaft . Which will not pass over upper shaft it is 2tenths of an inch to small .The first two pocs show I believe , the retainer with a split in it. The next shows how they stack up on bearing then you see the race by itself & finally the retainer I bought that doen't fit
The retainer you're showing is not for this column. The next piece after the two pieces you shown is the short spring. Then the cancel cam/ lock plate assembly secured by large c clip.
A plastic spider retainer is used over the c clip if you have the later lock plate without the plastic shield on it.
Greg are these the correct parts and are they in the correct order ( is anything missing ) starting with the outer race in the steering housing ,then the bearing ,followed by outer race ,split wedge ring, small spring and the other parts shown. I placed them an an old bolt to show their order in the steering shaft.
